Grapefruit League Stadiums: #2 JetBlue Park

JetBlue Park Spring Training Grapefruit League“Mini Fenway” is #2 on our Spring Training Grapefruit League countdown. JetBlue Park is located in Fort Meyers, Florida, and is home to the Boston Red Sox. JetBlue Park at Fenway South is the official name of the stadium, giving a nod to the Boston home back up north.

This stadium is a sight to see for baseball fans, from the wavy rooftop covering the seating, to the walk around the outfield, and especially the Green Monster that encompasses the left field wall. The Green Monster at JetBlue Park, and the rest of the outfield wall dimensions, are the same as that at Fenway Park in Boston. A few Grapefruit League fields have this feature, but it is most prominent with the Red Sox. The wall has seating along the top like the real Green Monster, but there are also seats in the middle of the wall that can view the field through a screen. That is the big difference as fans can literally watch the game through the wall.

Tickets are hard to come by for Red Sox Spring Training games, and their website currently only has a handful of games available to purchase seats. The prices range from $10-$27, but you can expect to pay higher prices on resale sites or by scalping outside the stadium. Parking is the typical $10 and is done in a large lot on site of the stadium.

JetBlue Park is one of the most state-of-the-art stadiums in the Grapefruit League. It is rivaled primarily from the closest team, the Minnesota Twins, who play in their new CenturyLink Sports Complex. JetBlue looks futuristic, yet has the historic feel with the Fenway amenities built in. It is a nice mix of past and present for both young and old fans alike.

JetBlue Park Spring Training Grapefruit LeagueRed Sox fans are some of the most passionate in baseball, and it is no different in Fort Meyers. While there will be a handful of fans for the visiting team, the stands are primarily packed with the Boston faithful who cheer on their beloved players. David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia are of course fan favorites, but the Red Sox have a farm system full of young players ready to take over the every day duties at the Major League level. There is no shortage of talent when you catch a game at JetBlue Park.

One of the unique viewing areas of the stadium is the upper walkway around the main concourse. Fans can stroll through the lower level as they walk from the third base side to the right field fence, but they can also view the game from the upper area on the third base side. Add this to the viewing above and within the Green Monster, and the grass seating in right field, and you have a great venue for seeing the game from every angle.

Although it is one of the Spring Training destinations out of the way from most others, JetBlue Park is by far one of the best stops on your March road trip. You won’t be disappointed with the scenery, both inside and outside of the stadium. Despite the hard to come by tickets, this is one stadium you will definitely want to visit in Florida.
