Baseball Christmas Lights in Reno

The holidays are upon us, and that means nights will be a little bit brighter for the rest of the year.  Houses, offices, downtown buildings and more will be donned in Christmas lights.  Some colored and some all white.  Some flashing and some steady.

There are the over-the-top festivities that include inflatable Santas, reindeer, and Disney characters.  If you haven’t seen the light shows where a set of lights flash to the tune of music, then be sure to find one to watch this year.  It is the time of the year when grown men argue over who has the brightest yard and not the best mowed lawn.

In case you were wondering how any of this has to do with baseball… here it is.  The Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, took Christmas lights to a whole new level.  There may not be any games being played on their field right now, and thankfully so, because the infield is shining bright as a diamond at night.

It’s not the Field of Dreams, it may not be as bright as the 4th of July in The Sandlot, and Roy Hobbs would not be trusted around any lights like this.  But the Aces did shine some light early on this holiday season.  I have a feeling this is the beginning of a minor league Christmas display extravaganza showdown.
