The Baseball Journal is my first website. I have been around the game of baseball since the day I was born and started playing t-ball at 4 or 5 years old, playing all the way through college. I played in recreational leagues as a kid, moved up to travel ball as a teenager, switched to middle school and high school baseball, and finished up my career in NCAA Division II. There were professional tryouts that I attended but was never able to get signed to a professional contract. Baseball is just as much about who you know as it is how good you are.
You can find lots of statistics on the percentage of high school players that play college and pro ball, the percentage of college players that play pro ball, and the number of pro players that make it to the Major Leagues. I was fortunate enough to get the chance to play at the collegiate level, and now I play for fun in men’s leagues and tournaments.
Baseball always has and always will be a love of mine. There is history that can be talked about forever, the present that can be debated over and over, and the future that can try to be predicted and looked forward to.
